Under the leadership of Professor Zhu Sheng, the research team is composed of 26 teachers, including 8 professors and 6 doctors.

The team is devoted to the research on socioeconomic statistical systems and methods with the goal of innovating and improving the socioeconomic statistical methods. The prominent feature of the team lies in analyzing the social and economic problems by means of statistical methods. Embracing the opportunities and challenges brought by the Big Data Age, the team has explored the method of collecting and analyzing the statistical data in the Age of the Internet. Moreover, the team has taken the lead in building the framework of the network statistics. Three projects carried out by the research team have obtained the manual instructions of Premier Wen Jiabao, namely, the Statistical Research on Disaster, the Happiness Index Survey of the Residents of the Disaster Reconstruction Area, the Social Survey of the Earthquake Stricken Area Residents’ Livelihood. Commissioned by the National Bureau of Statistics, the research team has accomplished the interface roadmap of the Chinese statistics and SDDS. It makes tremendous contributions to make the Chinese statistics geared to international standards.
