In 2024 (the 10th) National College Students' statistical modeling competition was guided by the statistical education training center of the National Bureau of statistics and hosted by the China Statistical Education Society. The country is divided into 28 competition areas. The provincial competition stage of Sichuan competition area is undertaken by the school of statistics of our university, and jointly undertaken by the statistical research center of the Chinese government and the popularization base of Social Sciences for climate change and economic development. Since the competition began in February this year, a total of 21386 teams from 802 colleges and universities and 64158 college students have participated in the competition. After layers of selection, including the fierce school competition, provincial competition, and the communication review and on-site meeting review at the national competition stage, 100 teams emerged and were successfully promoted to the oral defense competition.

From August 22 to 23, the finals of the 2024 (10th) National College Students' statistical modeling competition were held in Xi'an University of Finance and economics. Finally, 60 first prizes, 119 second prizes and 408 third prizes were selected. It is particularly worth mentioning that our school's teachers and students have made another brilliant achievement in this competition. Our school's teachers and students have won two national first prizes, three national third prizes, eight provincial first prizes, eleven provincial second prizes and four provincial third prizes in this competition.

At the subsequent summing up meeting and award ceremony, maoyoufeng, President of the China Society of statistical education and director of the National Steering Committee for Applied Statistics professional degree postgraduate education, and Yang Tao, Secretary of the Party committee of Xi'an University of Finance and economics, attended the scene and delivered a speech, expressing warm congratulations and high affirmation to the successful holding of the competition and the winners. Since the start of the statistical modeling competition, the school of statistics of our university has actively encouraged students to participate in the competition, and is committed to creating a good academic atmosphere that encourages the learning and application of statistical knowledge, stimulating students' attention to hot and difficult issues in the economic and social fields, improving students' abilities in data mining, data analysis, and data processing using statistical methods and computer technology, and strengthening students' innovative thinking consciousness, so as to meet the new requirements for statistical talents in the era of big data.

The results of this competition are also a strong proof of the practice and exploration of our school in talent training mode and education and teaching reform, and reflect our firm determination and remarkable results in cultivating high-quality statistical talents.
