2023-02-22 15:10

Recently, according to the latest data published by ESI (Essential Science Indicators), Professor Teng Lei, the vice president of our college, as the corresponding author, published a paper on the digital economy in the internationally renowned journal North American Journal of Economics and Finance (SSCI), "How does FinTech affect the development of the digital economy? Evidence from China", which was successfully selected as the top 1% of ESI cited papers in the world. The co-authors of this article also include Dr. Chen Xiaohui from Yibin University and Chen Wen, associate professor of Nanjing Agricultural University (previously worked at Southwest University of Finance and Economics).

The article analyzes the mechanism from the two dimensions of traditional technological innovation and financial decentralization, and then studies the impact of Fintech on the digital economy and its mechanism based on the data of the Zero One think-tank and the two-way fixed effect model of time and individual. The empirical results show that: first, Fintech can promote the development of digital economy, and its mechanism is that Fintech can promote regional traditional technology innovation and weaken the financial decentralization of local governments, both of which are conducive to the development of digital economy. Second, local financial regulatory resources have a positive regulatory role. With the increase of local financial regulatory resources, the role of financial technology in promoting the development of digital economy is more prominent. Under the background that the country is vigorously developing the digital economy and local governments are responsible for dealing with local financial risks, the research conclusions of this paper provide new support for local governments to realize the development of the digital economy by means of financial technology innovation.
